When power goes out and the internet is down….
Sunday, October 4th, 2009So… for those of you that don’t keep up with one of my twitter accounts, the power just went out at my house. It has come back on at this point, but my internet is still down. “But Matty, how are you making this post?!” you are asking. Behold the power of a smartphone and the ability to tether!! Unfortunately though, the speed is too slow to really do much of anything past IMing and since it’s EDGE, I can’t use the phone/text and data at the same time, so productivity drops through the floor, catches on fire, then runs around screaming while trying to set other people’s productivity on fire before it just dies…
ANYWAYS… the irony in the power going off is that I was in the process of thinking about getting a replacement for my laptop, since it seems to be crapping out left and right. Just the fact that it didn’t crash last night while I was asleep was a surprise. So I have been looking at options, and debating if I want to get another laptop or just get a nice desktop to use here at home and use my laptop for mostly non-important stuff/transport for the rest of it’s disabled life. Then just as I thought “I’ll probably just get a desktop” the power died, turning everything off EXCEPT my laptop… coincidence or a very crafty plan?? Who knows, but I’ll still be looking at getting a desktop
On a final note, while typing this Windows gave me this message
“It appears that you may be having internet connectivity issues. You may want to contact your Internet Service Provider to resolve this issue”
Yeah. thanks Windows…. though i am impressed with what was provided when I click “More details” cause it apparently knows I usually use broadband saying that it “noticed slower than normal connection speeds along with frequent disconnecting”
