It’s electric! Boogie Woogie Woogie…

Monday, July 14th, 2008

The Tesla Motors Roadster has been shipped.

Never heard of it?
It’s a new electric car, but not like many you have heard of… here’s what’s awesome about it:

  • This car is gorgeous!
    Yeah, very nice looking :-)
  • 0 – 60 in 3.9s
    Very impressive for an electric
  • 13,000 RPM redline
    Also impressive
  • 256mpg equivalent
“Equivalent” because, well… it umm, doesn’t use gas…
  • 220 miles per charge
Decent range, not the best, but it will get most people where they are going.

Down-side?
Well, it costs $109,000 which is a bit out of my, and most people’s, price range.
Since it is fully electric, it means that it has a large amount of computer and software driven components which means that something could go wrong, but hopefully it won’t…

Wreck/Car Fire on campus this morning

Wednesday, July 9th, 2008

So I was walking up from Strom towards Hunter and saw a police car blocking the road and a fire truck up the road between Fluor and Hunter. So my curiosity got the best of me and I proceeded to go see what was up.

Here are the results…
(there are supposed to be images on this page… but they may or may not be working…)

From Clemson

Clemson University Police are investigating an accident involving several vehicles that occurred this morning on South Palmetto Boulevard, in front of Earle Hall.

As far as hearsay goes, some guy just walked into class and said that a Facilities van hit a car parked on the side of the road, igniting in flames… while that is a possibility, I am withholding judgement until Clemson realeases an official report…

By the way, the speed limit there is around 20 mph…
