History of Technology at Clemson

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Over the summer I got the idea of looking into the History of Technology as it relates to Clemson and Clemson’s contributions to technology.

I had done minimal amounts of research on it, finding little information on the topic, at least little information in one place, which gave me the idea of the possibility of creating something along the lines of a website for it. However, school started and I hadn’t been able to work on it any more, up until these past 2 weeks when I decided to do a speech on the topic and now I’m working on it again and I am planning on continuing this project until it dies or until I graduate (possibly later).

I tell you all this because I am looking for people to join me in the research. There is the possibility of a Creative Inquiry Class being made by Dr. Pam Mack, Clemson’s Specialist on the History of Technology, and hopefully compiling something a bit more comprehensive on the topic.

So, if you are seriously interested in the subject, or think you would be, then please let me know by emailing me at mwoodru(at)clemson(dot)edu with the subject of ” Clemson’s Technological History” or something along those lines.

The most absurd thing ever….

Thursday, October 4th, 2007

So, today I was searching around facebook for causes like “Support our troops”, etc and I came across some of the most absurd, ridiculous, and probably the most retard groups and causes EVER!!

Causes and Facebook groups made to NOT, yes NOT, support our troops.

According to these groups ALL U.S. soldiers are cold blooded murders, and one even says “And for those of you who say United States Troops die for our freedom: Wake up. They kill other people to enslave us into a world of violence and hate. Maybe there’s a REASON they died.”

Now I understand that people are against the war, and I’m fine with that, but to not support our soldiers? In response to the quote above, what about Pearl Harbor? Lets consider what would have happened had we not gotten involved in WWII? Can you honestly say that it is the sole responsibility of our military that we are “enslaved in a world of violence and hate”?

Again, I have no qualms about people who don’t support the war. I am however an avid supporter of our military. Part of this is because my oldest brother is in the military as an officer in the United States Air Force and is a Bio-Environmental Engineer. In November, he is leaving his wife and 4 children and going to Iraq for 6 months because the military says that he needs to. He IS NOT Infantry. I don’t think that he qualifies as a “cold-hearted killer” as our entire military apparently is. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

Lets chalk this up as another reason that I hate stupid people.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS. ALL OF OUR TROOPS!
